Seal Beach Lions Club PRESS RELEASE on Red Car (Pacific Electric Railroad Historic Red Car)
Sunday, February 28th, 2021

The Seal Beach Lions Club is pleased to announce to the Seal Beach Community that an agreement has been reached between the Seal Beach Lions Foundation and the Seal Beach Historical Society/Red Car Museum for the purchase of the Pacific Electric Railroad Historic Red Car.

The Seal Beach Historical Society/Red Car Museum reached out to the Seal Beach Lions Club and shared their belief that the Seal Beach Lions Club would be good stewards of the Red Car and as such desired to sell the Red Car (no content) to the Seal Beach Lions Foundation. The Seal Beach Lions Club Board of Directors approved the sale and obtained an executed Bill of Sale effective February 28th, 2021.

The Red Car is an important part of Seal Beach history. As such, this vital historical resource will remain in the community. The Seal Beach Lions Club will be working with the City on Land Lease and other agreement logistics.

The Seal Beach Community deserves the long-term preservation of all the community’s historical resources. The Seal Beach Lions Club looks forward to working with both the Community & City to reach that end. The club plans to assess the Red Car condition and continue restoration of the railroad crossing sign as its first steps.

Best Regards,
SB Lion 1st Vice President
