Community Volunteer Work that Makes a Difference
If you’re interested in volunteering, leading projects, networking and having fun – you can do all of this and more as a Seal Beach Lions club member. As a Lion, you’ll perform local volunteer work to improve your community – and communities around the world.
As a Lions club member, you’ll join a local group of service-minded men and women who are doing local volunteer work to support your community – right now. You’ll also become a member of Lions Clubs International, a respected international organization, a leader in our local community and a friend to people in need.
There are many reasons to become a member. As a Lion, you will:
> Help your community and gain valuable skills
> Network with business people in your community and around the world
> Energize your life and have fun
You'll grow personally and professionally and you'll know that the community volunteer work you perform is worthwhile and appreciated.
Membership
Membership is by invitation to men and women interested in serving in the family of Lions International. A person seeking membership must be sponsored by an existing member. To be eligible for membership, a prospective Lion must attend three meetings or events (one being a board meeting). After meeting attendance requirements, the prospective member is voted upon by the Board of Directors. Dues are $120 per year and there is a $25 initiation fee for new members. (Reduced dues and Initiation fee for family members and former Leos)
What is required of a member?
Come to meetings when you can, help with as many service projects that fits your lifestyle and try to work our major fundraisers. You must always have a positive attitude, promote Lionism in the community and most of all - have FUN!
Meetings
The Seal Beach Lions Club meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6:30pm. Most members come early to socialize and learn about upcoming projects.
The agenda includes announcements about upcoming projects and events, a review of recently completed events and we usually have a short informative program on the second meeting of the month. Meetings last approximately 1 – 1 ½ hours depending on the program.
We meet on the 2nd floor of the Seal Beach Yacht Club in Long Beach (255 N. Marina Drive Long Beach, CA 90803). There is no cost to attend meetings - parking is free – dress is casual – guests are always welcome. The meeting place changes occasionally so check out our website at www.sealbeachlions.org or check us out on Facebook (Seal Beach Lions Club).
For additional information, contact our membership committee chairperson at: [email protected] or ask a Lions member around town - they are just about everywhere.
