Seal Beach Lions Club Signature Projects
We produce the annual Seal Beach Christmas Parade that includes more than 3,000 participants and 15,000 spectators.
Our annual Lions Community Fish Fry is the longest running event in Seal Beach. It is both a fundraiser and a community event with bands, food and fun during the third weekend in July.
We have a dynamic youth program for teenagers called LEOS: Leadership – Experience – Opportunity. We have three separate clubs that do community service and fundraising: Seal Beach Leo Club; Leo Club of Braille Institute; and VBA Homeschool Leo Club. Youth membership is around 175.
Our LAG Team (Lions Against Graffiti) removes graffiti from both public and private locations throughout Seal Beach. The team responds to calls on our Lions Graffiti hotline and regularly seeks out graffiti markings in the higher profile areas.
We are the primary financial sponsor and leadership provider of the Los Alamitos High School’s dramatic and powerful anti-drinking and driving program – “Every-15-Minutes”
We collect and recycle thousands of pairs of eyeglasses each year to help the less fortunate and twice monthly are involved in Sight screenings that distribute eyeglasses to the needy.
We conduct a Safe Rides program on St. Patrick’s Day.
Our Honor the Teacher Banquet honors teachers of the year from all schools in the Los Alamitos School District.
We host a Beepball Exhibition Game where sight impaired youth from the Braille Institute play softball using beeping balls against blindfolded All-Stars from Seal Beach Pony Baseball.
We host Breakfast with Santa during the Holidays where families are treated to our famous pancake breakfast while the kids visit Santa Claus.
100% of the money raised by Lions goes to fund our projects and to various charitable organizations and programs. No money is used for club administration.
